A medical student loses his finger on a Caribbean island in the middle of a hurricane. Can his fellow med students get him to an airport, off the island and to a hospital in time to save his finger? Produced by Rebecca Hertz.
Skeptical singer songwriter and BA friend George Hrab was at NECSS. On Geo’s last album, "Trebuchet", he wrote a tune called "Death from the Skies" — based on the brilliant book of the same name. He plays the funky beat, and I read statistics of getting killed by various astronomical events. We performed this song live both at Paddy Reilly’s, a bar where Geo had a gig, and to close out the ceremonies.
For the next 24 hours I am blacking out TheOatmeal.com in protest of SOPA and PIPA. If one of these bills were to pass, this page is what many sites on the internet would look like.
As someone who creates content for the web, earns a living from it, and has had his content pirated, I do feel that we need better legislation against online piracy.
I do not, however, think that SOPA or PIPA are the legislation we need.
Want to help in the fight against SOPA / PIPA? First, go learn about the bills. After that go contact your elected officials. Wikipedia has a handy-dandy page set up which allows you to locate your state representative.
Hugs and jet skis, -The Oatmeal
P.S. Please pirate the shit out of this animated GIF.

Many have said that upon entering the best pirate supply store in San Francisco, they get a sensation of déjà vu. Others walk in and feel at once the miracle work of an unseen hand. This went viral way back in the early days when the interwebs were dial up and in black and white... Clumpy and Crumbly reminded me of this...
The Subservient Chicken - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: ...there is "The Subservient Chicken" web page. On the page, a man in a chicken costume performs a wide range of actions based on a user's input, showing pre-recorded footage and appearing like an interactive webcam.[4] The site takes literally the advertising slogan "Get chicken just the way you like it". The site launched on April 8, 2004. The site was created for CP+B and BK by The Barbarian Group and is hosted at GSI in Kansas City, Missouri. "The guy in the suit was originally an actor, but he was claustrophobic in the suit, so he wouldn’t do it. And we had to use one of the costume’s designers... He would do about six moves and then we would have to fan him off because he would get so hot in the costume," says CP+B ECD Jeff Benjamin.[5] There are more than three hundred commands that the Subservient Chicken will respond to... If I remember correctly, the web page went up before the commercials and other than a subtle link reading "Get chicken just the way you like it" at the bottom of the page leading to Burger King, there was originally no obvious connection to the fast food chain. I think this is because many of us who were too cool for school would have originally ignored it, otherwise. But we bit and it went viral.
This was still running on the Burger King site until fairly recently, but I could not find it today.
Thanks Mindy, this will be in my mind for awhile now. I've got to show this to my kids. They think I am crazy because I am known to sing this quite often. (Well, that's probably not the only reason.)
