National Monuments in Danger

As I wrote earlier about the Rio Grande de Norte National Monument, last spring I spent a few hours in New Mexico, and I was a long ways away from the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument, which is very far to the south from where I was, down near (essentially surrounding Las Cruces.

This monument, though, was Brent Rose's second stop on his 27 Monuments project.  I am impressed.  He's burning miles and cutting video!  Good for him, and great for us!

Running out of daylight today, so I'll let Rose's work speak for the monument today, and I hope to write more soon.  Until then, check out the links at the bottom of the post for more information.

#27Monuments stop #2: Organ Mountains - Desert Peaks National Monument, near Las Cruces, NM. This monument is actually divided into three separate areas, each of them unique, and each incredibly important. We need to protect ALL of them, not just the Organ Mountains (named for their pipe-like spires). Please head to 27Monuments.org to learn what you can do and tag friends who you think might be interested. We only have until July 10th to save these amazing places! #MonumentsForAll . Huge ups to @organmountain for taking the time to show me around this incredible place. We're all in this together, and if you're close to one of these #27Monuments and would like to link up, let me know. Please tag friends in the comments and help to spread the word! You can also learn more about ALL of the monuments under threat at monumentsforall.org and sign there, too. . . #conservation #protectnationalmonuments #nationalmonuments #environment
