We ended up spending a lot of the time on the trip that we wanted to spend at the Grand Canyon at Zion, instead. However, it was a pretty good choice. I'd never been to Zion before, but this was my second visit to the Grand Canyon. Sure, it was when I was seven, but we spent several days on the south rim, one or two days on the north rim, and the memories are solid.
This time, it was a very short visit. The park was mobbed, and we wanted to hit Meteor Crater on the way to Tuscon, our final destination of the day (it was a long day). We came into the park through the Desert View Entrance, checked out the Desert View Watchtower (visible, in the distance, on the rim in the photo), hit a couple viewpoints, spent an annoying half hour or so looking for parking at Grand Canyon Village, and then moved on...
