Originally I wanted to post a longer collection of photos from the Valley of the Gods along with the "quick" tour post, but the tour post is turning into a monster, so I decided to throw this up instead. Why not celebrate the Bears Ears National Monument deadline day with multiple posts?

This formation is located near the western boundary (as of June 2017) of the monument, a little south from Hite on Lake Powell.  It was named after a local rancher who died in a horse accident in White Canyon near here, according to the first two videos below.

The summit elevation is 6,775 feet, and the tower itself is 270 feet.

Ok, back to editing photos for the "tour" post!
