National Monuments in Danger
While I shared Brent Rose's last two videos on the National Monuments in Danger Facebook Page, I've been a bit busy and am just getting around to posting them to the blog and website.
This was the last stop on Rose's tour, and one he didn't expect to make on his trip this year. However, it seems the bug to complete the "set" took hold, and he flew out there to finish his tour of all 22 of the "land" monuments.
Apparently, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke does not expect to recommend any changes to this monument. It is one of the few, so far, that he's made such statements about.
However, even after he makes his recommendations, the President can still do whatever he wants, and I fear that he will slash and eliminate everything he can, just because he can, and because he thinks it will fire up his base.
While the official comments period is over for the land monuments (it has been extended for the marine monuments, re-opening on Monday, July 31), there are still other ways to continue to fight for our public lands and for these 27 monuments in particular.
